We'll taste identical wine grapes, side by side, and discover how different the same varietal can taste depending on where it is grown - thus tasting terroir. In this class we'll help you understand why you like or dislike certain wines and help you get comfortable with terms like full-boidied, oaky, velvety, etc. Plus, we'll have you picking out flavors like apples, tropical fruit, raspberries, and currants. These terms will no longer seem arbitrary and they will help you pick out wines that you like and will help you navigate wine lists and liquor shelves with certainty. This class is geared for all levels of tasters, but is especially helpful for beginners. Wine and Food Pairing Seminar

This seminar takes a cause and effect look at how food interacts and changes the flavor of wine. In class, you will sample foods that represent the five basic food tastes: sweet, sour, salt, bitter and umami, and follow it with a taste of wine. After learning some basic food and wine pairing principals, you will be able to predict how the wine will change when tasting it with food. Get more than a glimpse into the world of wine August 7, when we will explore all facets of old-world wine in a day-long exploration featuring no less than 15 of the world's best wines!
Join Cook Street for an in-depth day of wine history, tasting, and information. Tour Italy, France, and Spain as you learn the ins and outs of old-world wine styles, from Bordeaux to Super Tuscan to Rioja and more. You'll leave our wine cellar ready to take your local wine shop by storm and able to boldly navigate the wine list at your favorite restaurant.

Coffee, tea, and a light breakfast snack will kick off the day from 8:30-9:00 a.m., followed by instruction with an hour-long lunch break. Bring your curiosity and prepare for an in-depth, sensory class that's anything but stuffy!
