Cook Street School of Fine Cooking is situated in the heart of Denver’s vibrant and historic Lower Downtown, which is known as LoDo. While in Denver, our students have the chance to explore cultural events, sporting events, dining, music, shopping and more! For sports fanatics, the city is home to six professional teams - including the Colorado Rockies, the Denver Broncos and the Denver Nuggets. For art lovers, we boast a wide variety of museums, including the newly expanded Denver Art Museum, and numerous galleries and arts districts. Our Performing Arts Center, the second largest in the nation, regularly hosts national Broadway tours and the Denver Zoo has been ranked the fourth most popular zoo in the country. The city also features several unique concert venues, including the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a 9,000 seat arena carved out of gigantic red rock boulders. We also have a downtown amusement park, Elitch Gardens. For the culinary connoisseur, the downtown area boasts over 300 restaurants and 90 bars and brewpubs. More than 80 different beers are brewed right here in Denver. With a mild climate and over 300 days of sunshine each year, Denver is also an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Students can play golf year-round at many of the city’s nearly 100 courses, take advantage of 650 miles of paved bike paths or run daily along the 40 mile Cherry Creek Trail. For those who prefer to get out of the city during their down time, the majestic Rocky Mountains are just a stones throw away. To get your adrenaline pumping, hit the slopes at one of three dozen ski resorts, raft down dozens of major rivers or hike any of our 200 peaks, including 54 “fourteeners” – mountains that are over 14,000 feet high. Colorado’s quaint mountain towns also offer plenty of outlets for relaxation: outdoor classical music concerts in Steamboat, summer art festivals in Vail and luxurious spas in Aspen.
